touch down and the atmosphere is foriegn. Adjusting the third eye...Regrouping, reclaiming, re-naming the perspective; Ancient to future, focusing the semantics. It's the science of meaning, defining your existence. Building life as if it mattered: a pre-text to the creation of evolution/ the evolution of creation.

the seemingly obtuse disappearance of dub_13 ... incommunicado. Orbiting. The dark side of the moon where as the ability to transmit or receive is rendered invalid ... the opening few bars of Led Zeppelin's - ´In The Evening´ seem to waft in the atmosphere .. ´ground control to Major Tom ..´ and few smatterings of ... ´till touch down brings me down´.

Git tha´ picture ?

life is a continual respiration, the rythmns are forever inhaling and exhaling. The tides ebb and flow as the moon runs it´s cycle .. rotations, revolutions.

revolve-lutions = evolution. phases. cycles. Mandala.

"So there is a cycle of the life of the world, and the cycle of the creation of man and his destruction, the cycles of the reign of races and nations, and cycles of time, such as a year, a month, a week, day, and hour.

The nature of each of these cycles has three aspects, the beginning, the culmination and the end, which are named Uruj, Kermal and Zeval; like, for example, new moon, full moon, and waning moon; sunrise, zenith and sunset. These cycles, sub-cycles and under-cycles, and the three aspects of their nature, are divided and distinguished by the nature and course of light. As the light of the sun and moon and of the planets plays the most important part in the life of the world, individually and collectively, so the light of the Spirit of Guidance also divides time into cycles."
-The Sufi Message of Hazrat Inayat Khan

the seeker seeks and the vessel pauses. The quest for further is a heavy passage and taking portage amongst the silence of absolute nothing is often required to save the soul and fortify the vision. And the patience to simply wait for the answers is the cipher of survival.

fully equipt for explorations into deeper. The hacking and re-writing, re-working of the inner code, the inner architecture. A serious overhaul and updating of gear: six years is a long time to go between updating one's kit.

The circuitry needed reconfiguring ... missions into the planetary alchemy have proved fruitful. But still lacking .. missing something. Obviously I am contented with the work so far. But it´s just not there ! It´s all so yesterday ... footprints of where it´s been. And the vision and pursuit of yet to be is the reason to wake and reach.

“Ah, but a man's reach should exceed his grasp, or what's a heaven for?”

So the sparks start to flicker and the vessel begins to make it's way back into view. The frequencies tune in and the vibrations begin to hum and buzz. Analogue fuzes with digital and the tones color into hues. Plugin' in and the glow is on the horizon. There's fire in the wire.  ... stay tuned. Soon come.

sonidos y colores

a big graxias to Russell over at Sounds and Colors for the inclusion of the dub_13 re-versioning of the Tremor track 'Viajante' on their new sounds of Latin America #1 compilation. A great collection including a personal favorite El Hijo de la Cumbia.

"Sounds and Colours
began in order to promote South American music and culture. We felt that Latin American culture was often shown through a narrow lens, missing much of the diversity that makes it such a rich culture. We aim to generate awareness in that culture by fostering relationships with artists and organizations, and by detailing it through our magazine."

I couldn't agree more ! Unlike alot of blogs/zines, etc. Sounds and Colors is always updating and staying alive with new content. The current feature is on Buenos Aires (the Paris of South America) which also happens to be the home of Tremor. So expand your knowledge on an amazingly vibrant cultural scene; past, present and future. Not only an excellent source for mixtapes and compilations the site also has info on film, food and drink, Brasil's current financial state, the Tigre Delta; A wealth of information to blow the minds that have been brainwashed by western media to associate south America with cocaine, kidnappings, big culos and futbol. So they are truly putting the music into context as well as feeding yer head ... as the door mouse said.

Remember: Columbus was the one who was lost !

here's a video that features the original version of 'Viajante' and a link for more info on some truly forward thinking people of any culture; Tremor.

Pulso de 13

Sending a mil graxias over to Miguel at 'Pulso Beat' for the great press !! Really appreciate the exposure and to be included with such great company.

If you're seeking and have the hunger for what's going down in contemporary Latin music (and not the kind you're going to get from 'mainstream' media sources !) please swing over there, bookmark it, stay in the know and expand your horizons.

Pulso Beat is publication that highlights & supports creative Latin American music all over the world. It was founded in December of 2008 for the express purpose of cultivating a space and creating a voice for original latin music that is not heard through the mainstream venues. An educational and informative voice that opens the minds of our world neighbors to the new rhythms and melodies of Latin music.

Pulso Beat's mission is to be recognized as the convergent space for independent and innovative musical expressions in all of Latin America and its global community.

Since way back in the days of 'Reggae en Espanol' (the godfather of Raggaeton) was first taking shape the voice of the southern hemisphere has been strong in expressing it's distinct identity and place in the 21st century. Unfortunetly mainstream media outlets can't wrap their heads around 'how to market' the sound of a forward pushing Latino voice .. so they give us Shakira. No dis to a homegirl from la 'quilla but  ... really ? If you think this is an acurate and fair representation of what's really out there you have been, once again, misled.

there is so much amazing, inventive, creative and important music (and art of all kind !) coming from the global latin voice and Pulso Beat is a great portal to learn from and be connected to.

as a side note the 'official' soundtrack to the film Voy a Explotar (from the production company of Gael Garcia Bernal and Diego Luna (Y Tu Mama Tambien) is an excellent way to get a taste of the sounds happening now. Carlos Reyes did a wonderful job in compiling this collection: from the beautiful  “Cámara Lenta” by Javiera Mena (Chile) to truly forward nu-cumbia (and personal fav) of "La Bonita" from El Remolon (Argentina) and trust me, all points in between. Some lean to the more abstract while others favor a more accesible road. But ! Every single track is a unique and sincere expression of very individual artists that just happen to share the same language.

the download and more info about the film and all the artists can be found over here at Club Fonograma another excellent source.

new dub_13 / Carlo Fanni collab to feat. Laura Estrada

Jim Kelly and Fred Williamson had Pam Grier ... and these punk-funk dandies have the stellar vocals of Spain's Laura Estrada. Dub_13 has joined forces with Italian producer/ Dj/ remixer Carlo Fanni (Dj Sdong) on a new collaboration.

Ms. Estrada, whom also penned the lyrics, brings a whole new dimension to the legion of boom. At the time of writting the track has the working title of 'you blow my mind'. Pre-production is underway on both sides of the Atlantic working towards a late winter release.

Born in Madrid and schooled at the Lycée Français, Laura's first performance was at the age of twelve and first studio session followed soon after at the age of thirteen. The only daughter of a musician father and an art-dealer mother she felt the gift awaken at the age of nine when she began piano lessons and composing her own songs.

Big 'tings await in the future for Laura and we are both so pleased she was able to find time in her busy schedule to work with us and bless us with her talent and positive vibez. Big up indeed, sista' !

Laura's latest release is a main room burner called 'move your feet' and is available on i-Tunes.

Hopefully be able to get some pre-release taste up soon. But in the mean time please enjoy a preview of the new 12" from DjSdong on Sardhouse records.
